Aine is one of the Leanan Sidhe, daughter of the Shadow Bard (![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif){kind=small} shadowedsong) and fraternal twin of Ciara (adarkerempathy). Born on the Winter Solstice, a few minutes after midnight, she is Summer's child, born at the point when light began to win it's war with dark for dominance in the world. Her talents lie in evoking the more fiery, pulling them forth. She's drawn to artists who find their brilliance in the ecstasy and need, in pushing the envelope to see how far they can go, how high they can fly, whose music makes people want to whirl and dance until they collapse, whose words make them laugh, whose pictures bring forth smiles. She is the cadence of drums, fire lighting up the night, delight and delirium, ever pushing higher without restraint."In Celtic folklore, the Irish leanan sídhe is a beautiful woman of the Aos Sí who takes a human lover. Lovers of the leanan sídhe are said to live brief, though highly inspired, lives. The leanan sídhe is generally depicted as a beautiful muse, who offers inspiration to an artist in exchange for fame and glory; however, this exchange frequently results in madness for the artist, and often premature death. W. B. Yeats popularized a slightly different perspective on these spirits with emphasis on their vampiric tendencies, a feature also shared by the Manx analogue the Lhiannan Shee. They seek the love of mortals. If they refuse, she must be their slave; if they consent, they are hers, and can only escape by finding another to take their place.
